the roots
of OUR why

Honey is healing, sacred and an endearing name for loved ones. This was the perfect name to express my vision for my practice. Our goal here is an embodied sense of safety. With love and professionalism as forefront values, I aim to guide and educate you and your partner for a birth on your terms. You are the king and queen of your care and so you get to decide how it goes.

During care with me, I will lovingly invite you to witness your own being blossoming, to be held while you push past conditioning, and to feel love and safety as you are cared for as a whole and worthy being.

I chose midwifery because my life mission is to impart knowledge and empower others. And midwifery is the perfect, sacred, container in which I can provide this deeply, nourishing, and supportive offering.

I chose midwifery because midwifery is love. And I am a lover.

about me

Christy Gochez

I am a mother, teacher, and the founder of Honey Midwifery.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Ernie and together we have one amazing son, Grant and three sweet pups. One mini goldendoodle and two poodles and their names are Mango, Smoothie and Banana. My family and I love to hang out with our friends, laugh and enjoy life, eating plant based and exercising daily. We are holistic in our views, we homeschool and we feel really fulfilled cultivating deep, meaningful relationships. Some of our closest friends started as our clients.

When spending time with me, you’ll learn that I am light-hearted, calm with my energy, love to love and I enjoy making others laugh and smile. I am a first generation Mexican American, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. My family and I moved to south orange county in 2012 and I have been working in the birth field since 2014.

My own birthing journey was in 2013. I had a rare 6-day labor with contractions starting on a Monday and ending with the birth of my son that following Saturday. No epidural, no medications or interventions and in a hospital setting. My partner and I were educated having taken the childbirth classes that I now teach, and we both knew how to advocate for ourselves and trust the process. What I learned from my experience is that: birth is so much more mental than it is physical, and birth is not torturous like the movies and American culture has led us to believe. It doesn’t matter how or where you give birth. It matters how you were made to feel at your birth. You should feel like you are supported and well informed on all your decision-making and not made to feel bullied, rushed or feared into any decision. It is here where a whole new world opened up to me. And every day I say at least once to myself, I am so grateful I get to do this work, this calling, this love. This work is the greatest gift.
